COLORADO OBSIDIAN? PRELIMINARY RESULTS OF A STATEWIDE DATABASE OF TRACE ELEMENT ANALYSIS By
نویسنده
چکیده
Colm'adfJ archaeologists have noted the presence of obsidian tools and debitage in archaeological sites for decades, but have recently increased their use of trace element analysis to determine the provenance of the mate1'l·al. Due to the small assemblages at all but a handful of sites, these characterization data have not been synthesized into patterns of regional lithic proCU7'ement andlm' exchange. This pape7' discusses some preliminary analysis of a statewide database of provenance studies, and suggests some alternatives to some of the common misconceptions about obsidian use in the 7'egion. We also add7'ess the p7'obability of undiscovered sozt7'ces of obsidian 7vithin Colorado. The current database of sourcing studies included he7'e reveals a wide geographic range of sources from seven western states, and includes 19 chemically distinct sources.

Chemical fingerprinting and source tracing of obsidian: the central Mediterranean trade in black gold.
Chemical fingerprinting using major or trace element composition is used to characterize the Mediterranean island sources of obsidian and can even differentiate as many as nine flows in the Monte Arci region of Sardinia. Analysis of significant numbers of obsidian artifacts from Neolithic sites in the central Mediterranean reveals specific patterns of source exploitation and suggests particular...

Obsidian artifacts is frequently used materials in prehistory and found widely in archaeological sites. Provenance studies of obsidian has been an issue of intense research and debate between archaeologists and geologists. Since different provenance studies has been carried out from 1960s up to 2015 in Anatolia and Caucasus but obsidian studies in Iran is in very early stage and consider as ter...
متن کاملElimination of Chemical and Spectral Interferences in Measurement of Trace Elements in Urine and Blood by Combined Electrodeposition-Electrothermal Atomic Absorption Spectrometry
A combined electrodeposition-ETAAS technique has been applied to the analysis of Pb, Cd, Co, Ni, Cr and Mn in biological samples in order to overcome interferences and to minimize sample pretreatment. It requires minimal sample preparation with the electrolysis process aiding partial decomposition of the organic matrix, adequate for the release and deposition of trace elements. In an initia...

In this study, the branch, leaves, flowers, roots and mixed all parts of different nine Euphorbia species were analyzed for their trace element contents by using ICP-MS. The samples were digested by concentrated nitric acid and hydrogen peroxide in a microwave by ICP-MS before the analysis. The accuracy and precision of the method was evaluated by CRM 1573a Tomato Leaves. Trace element contents...
